Sunil Gavaskar says Rohit Sharma should be stripped of Indian captaincy for Border-Gavaskar series

In a surprising statement, cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has suggested that Rohit Sharma should be removed as captain of the Indian team for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. Gavaskar believes a change in leadership could benefit the team’s performance against Australia, especially in light of recent mixed results and growing competition.

According to Gavaskar, Sharma's captaincy has shown signs of inconsistency, and bringing in a fresh leader could add energy and tactical flexibility to the team. Gavaskar’s comments have stirred significant debate among fans and analysts, with some agreeing that India might benefit from a different approach, while others argue that Sharma’s leadership experience is crucial in high-stakes series like the Border-Gavaskar.

The Indian cricket board (BCCI) has yet to comment on Gavaskar's suggestion, and as it stands, Rohit Sharma remains the captain. However, the remarks have put pressure on the captain to prove himself in the upcoming matches.
